Defrag Ohio Lorain
April 12-14
Lorain County Community College
Sponsorship Proposal
Overview:
Defrag Ohio presents quarterly conferences to identify and connect (aka “de-fragments") resources and capabilities in rich media to advance our state's participation in the multi-trillion dollar global industry. Rich media is defined broadly as any digitally-engaged business or application with some examples being modeling, simulation and 3-D visualization. Technology, art, science, manufacturing, business development, and investment specialists come together in open interactive conversations, to present, discuss and develop next steps for new business growth in Ohio.
On December 9, 2006, FUTURE: Center for Design and Technology Transfer @ The Cleveland Institute of Art hosted the first conference. People from across the state attended. Representatives from Ohio universities and colleges led discussions in brainpower, innovation, facilities, and education. Attendees participated in forums and workshops in video game development, economic development, workforce development, medical imaging, and narrow cast technologies. Defrag Ohio builds open, transparent, creative communities attracting industry professionals in design, technology, manufacturing, medical, communications, business management and venture investment. Through this community it leverages new principles and practices for Open Source Economic Development. The Defrag Ohio network models collaborative leadership skills and builds social networks to share information quickly so we can spot opportunities faster and link resources and capabilities for new projects and business development in a process called Strategic Doing. Welcome to the future! Welcome to Defrag!
Defrag Ohio Lorain, April 12-14, 2007
The Defrag Ohio Lorain conference is jointly organized and supported by the Lorain County Community College (LCCC), the LCCC Foundation, the faculty of the Division of Science & Math, and the University Partnership. The event will be hosted at the beautiful John A. Spitzer Conference Center and the Stocker Arts Center.
The conference offers an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to address our innovation imperative in rich media with a focus on education and workforce development. Conference attendees will envision alternate futures and begin to identify the rich media innovations capable to reach the scale and quality needed to address critical world challenges, such as climate change, renewable energies and urban re-densification. We will identify cross-cutting themes in new behaviors, technology and business development. We will look at next steps through a process we refer to as Strategic Doing.
Through this dynamic “de-fragmented” network of highly skilled and creative individuals, we will build new initiatives, applications and outcomes throughout the rich media community.
